IEEE Transactions on Games
The IEEE Transactions on Games (IEEE TOG) is the premier peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the scientific, technical, and engineering study of games. Published by IEEE, it covers a wide spectrum of research — from artificial intelligence and player modelling to game design, serious games, extended reality, and beyond — making it the go-to venue for rigorous, high-impact games research. Whether you work in academia or industry, if your work sits at the intersection of games and science, you may consider submitting your work to this journal.
Who is behind IEEE TOG?

CoG to TOG
The IEEE Conference on Games (IEEE CoG) and the IEEE Transaction on Games (IEEE TOG) are closely related.
IEEE TOG welcomes extended versions of previously published conference papers — including work presented at IEEE CoG. There is no fixed requirement on how much new content must be added; what matters is that the manuscript makes a clear and meaningful novel contribution beyond the original. Authors should explicitly reference the prior work, highlight the new contributions in the abstract and conclusion, and attach the original paper as a supplemental PDF. More information can be found in the submission guidelines page: transactions.games/submit/submission-guidelines.
Additionally, the best papers of every IEEE CoG edition will be invited by TOG’s EiC to submit an extended version of their paper for a prestigious Special Issue. This special issue highlights the best works from CoG, facilitating the publication of extended versions of the finest papers presented at the conference.
Best of TOG
IEEE CoG presents, in a plenary session, a selection of papers published in the journal. The aim of this session is to present and highlight papers nominated for the “IEEE ToG Outstanding Paper Award” to the IEEE CoG audience.
More information on the Best of TOG session will come soon...
